Adornments

T1T2T3 T4T5T6 T7T8

With the opening of new lands come a whole new type of recipe and item, adornments. Each crafting class, alchemist included, has the ability to make items that can be added to specific gear. The components to make these new recipes come from transmuters, but you do not need to be a transmuter in order to make a recipe for your class. You also do not need to be a tradeskiller at all to use an adornment.

There are three types of adornments: Treasured, Legendary, and Fabled. These types are indicative only of the adornment's recipes (and the final item's relative strength), not of how they can be used.

For all the original tradeskill classes (alchemist included), the recipe books for adornments are drop items only. However, they're body drops and from any creature in the world of the right level range (including the original zones.. and even the "starter" islands for Freeport and Qeynos.

Skip right to the recipe types and links for alchemist adornments.

Using Adornments

Each adornment has a text indicating on what type of it can be placed and a level. The level is the minimum level of the gear on which it can be placed. The type of item is the only item types it can be used with.

The type (treasured, legendary, fabled) doesn't matter when using an adornment on a piece of gear. You can place a fabled adornment on a handcrafted item or a treasured adornment on a fabled item.

There are some items which cannot be adorned. These are marked with an "ORNATE" tag.

For more information on Adornments and what is available for which slot, you can visit Adornments by Slot (opens a webpage not controlled or maintained by EQ2Alchemy but used by EQ2Alchemy's creator *grin*).

Making Adornments

Each of the original tradeskill classes and the two new "secondary" classes have adornment recipes. You do not need to be a transmuter to make any of the adornments, except the transmuter recipe ones, of course. However, the components for the recipes all come from transmuting.

Transmuters munge treasured (or better) geat and spell scrolls into components. The process of transmuting "destroys" the item. The components gained will match the level of the item munged and will be one of 4 components based on the quality of the item munged. Fragments are the most common component, Powders are a bit more rare, Infusions are uncommon, and Mana vials are the rarest of all. Treasured and Mastercrafted gear can yield fragments or powders. Adepts I and Adept III can yield fragments, powders or infusions. Legendary gear can yield powders or infusions. Fabled gear and Masters can yield infusions or mana vials. The outcome of transmuting is random. On rare occassions, a transmutation will yield 2 components.

The recipes for adornments are all x5 (level 5, 15, 25, 35, etc).

While making an adornment, if you bring it to "crafted" (3 line in the crafting UI) or better, you will have certain components returned to you.

Alchemist Adornments

The information here is from the last day of beta. I do not yet have access to all the recipes for alchemist adornments on Live. As I get access to them (and have time to update), the information here will be corrected as need be.

There are no stats for the recipes since there is a bug (that also made my beta shots worthless) that prevents examining a recipe to see the stats of an item.
